Students are challenged to work with more subtle, detailed
attention to the mind and body. Building on previously
learned poses, understanding of fundamentals is deepened
as beginning (Asana I) and Asana II poses are consolidated.
New Poses are added according to the ability of the students
in the class. Inversion variations are taught in both
headstand and shoulderstand. This class includes continuing
work on backbends, forward bends and twists. Pranayama
is taught and we continue our exploration of the yoga
sutras.
To attend this class the student’s independent practice
should be well-established, including thorough familiarity
with all standing poses and an ability to hold a headstand
for five minutes and a shoulderstand for five to ten
minutes, as well as do some form of independent backbends.
